Kalari is Australia's market leader in specialised bulk logistics, offering customised, best-fit, contracted solutions for high-volume logistics challenges to many of Australia’s leading corporations with a particular emphasis on safety, compliance assurance, people and leadership, operational excellence, customer engagement and sustainability.

With over 30 years’ experience, Kalari is Australia’s most innovative and prominent specialist bulk logistics provider to the mining and resources sector and other selected industries, servicing more than 100 mining and industrial sites across Australia. Kalari is now working with BHP Billiton on one of the world's largest copper deposits - the Olympic Dam mine.

About the Opportunity

Kalari now has an exciting opportunity for an organised and process-driven Engineering Graduate to join the team at Kalari's Olympic Dam project in the role of Demand Planner.

Reporting to the Regional Manager, this high profile and pivotal role will see you primarily responsible for supporting the effective and efficient production of the Kalari Olympic Dam operations with BHP.

While this is primarily an Adelaide based role, you will be required to travel by air, spending Monday and Friday at Kalari offices in Adelaide and Tuesday-Thursday with BHP in Olympic Dam (approx 550km from Adelaide).

Your day-to-day duties will include, but not be limited to:

  • Forward planning and forecasting of drivers and assets required to meet customer demands;
  • Preparing internal and customer KPI reporting on safety, product delivery performance, asset and labour utilisation;
  • Driving a culture of zero harm through safety interactions and communications of safety expectations; and
  • Preparing and distributing rosters to drivers, ensuring fatigue management and CoR obligations are met.

About You

To be considered for this role you must hold tertiary qualifications in engineering, with a focus on safety and commitment to zero harm.

Your excellent time management skills, adaptability and calm demeanour in the face of rapid change will be critical to your success, as will your ability to effectively manage various competing priorities to meet deadlines. As you will be communicating with multiple stakeholders at all levels of both organisations, you must possess natural interpersonal communication and negotiation skills in order to effectively build relationships in order to accomplish organisational goals.

Your achievements in this role will be a direct result of your proactive drive to succeed and analytical problem-solving in a fast-paced and demanding environment. Importantly, you will have the opportunity to take this position and make it your own - an entrepreneurial "Can Do" attitude will be highly regarded.

The ideal candidate will be open to change, encouraging and fostering a culture of innovation by bringing fresh ideas and new perspectives to the role.

While this is not a graduate program, recent graduates are welcome to apply.

Please note: As you will be required to travel between Adelaide and Olympic Dam, you must be comfortable with regular flights in light aircraft. Before commencement, you will be required to complete several pre-employment checks including a medical assessment and National Police Clearance.

In return for your hard work and dedication, you will be rewarded with a highly attractive salary circa $90,000-$100,000 (commensurate with your skills and experience) plus super!
